Watching an Owl

I spotted this tiny pygmy owl a couple of weeks ago.  That's him sitting on top of the tall stump in the bottom sketch.  Pgymy owls are about the size of a robin.  They hunt during the daytime which is fabulous for me.  We watched this little guy for a good hour.
Here he sits on his second hunting perch, a blacked chuck of wood left over from loggers burning a slash pile.  I had time to ink this in the field, but then the little fella flew off to a third hunting perch, but one too far away for us to enjoy.
